    ESMA's priorities for 2018

    Steven Maijoor, ESMA's chair, addressed the EFAMA Investment Management Forum 2017 [16.11.2017] on ESMA's priorities for 2018. He covered a number of key issues including: costs and charges of investment funds, investment fund stress testing and supervisory convergence in the context of Brexit.

    Maijoor referred to ESMA's preliminary findings on the cost and past performance of UCITS, retail AIFs and structured products (see their earlier update here). ESMA has been analysing costs impacts – including implicit and express costs and charges that the funds industry levies - and the upshot inflation has on investors' returns from UCITS.     When it comes to plans for the near future, nearly 90 percent said they draw to rate current or additional certifications in 2002. Forty-six percent of total respondents (including 73 percent of NT 4.0 MCSEs) intend to rate their Win2K MCSE, while 25 percent draw to attain Microsoft's newest certification, the MCSA.
