Its goal is to build security into servers and PCs at a microprocessor level. novel initiatives coming out of the Trusted Computing Platform Alliance plight to better secure their processing platforms, ensuring that only authorized applications and program executables can ever exist executed by the system, and that outright data housed on the system is encrypted so that it is useless to others. Similar arguments could exist made for going with an IBM or Sun solution stack, too—IBM even throws a couple of databases into the mix.
